Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: August 17, 2026
1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Octomuse (“Octomuse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the Octomuse mobile application, website, conversational assistant, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Octomuse helps creators review content tasks, prepare selected videos, connect a TikTok account, and publish content to TikTok after explicit confirmation.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Mobile phone number, verification status, language, and account preferences.
- Messages, task selections, captions, hashtags, publishing choices, and support requests.
- Videos, thumbnails, and other content you choose to review or publish.
Information from TikTok
When you connect TikTok, we receive information permitted by your authorization. Depending on the permissions granted, this may include your TikTok user identifier, display name, avatar, account or creator information, available privacy options, interaction capabilities, posting limits, authorization tokens, publish ID, publishing status, and post link.
Technical information
We may collect device type, operating system, app version, IP address, timestamps, crash data, diagnostic logs, security events, and interactions with the Service.
3. How we use information
- Provide phone-number authentication and maintain your account.
- Create or restore conversations and recommend eligible content tasks.
- Show video previews and let you review captions, hashtags, privacy settings, interaction permissions, and commercial content disclosures.
- Connect your TikTok account and retrieve the latest creator information before publishing confirmation.
- Publish only the video you select after you tap “Confirm and Post.”
- Track processing using the returned publish ID, status endpoint, and Content Posting Webhooks, then display the final status and post link.
- Prevent fraud, enforce our terms, troubleshoot failures, improve reliability, and comply with applicable law.
4. TikTok integration
Connecting TikTok is optional and occurs through TikTok’s authorization flow. Octomuse requests only the permissions needed for the features you choose to use, including permission to publish selected content where applicable.
Octomuse does not publish content in the background or without your explicit consent. Before information is submitted to TikTok, you can review the video preview, publishing account, caption, hashtags, available privacy setting, interaction permissions, and commercial content disclosure. Submission begins only after you tap “Confirm and Post.”
Your use of TikTok remains subject to TikTok’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. TikTok is an independent third-party service.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only as needed with:
- TikTok: content and publishing settings you explicitly submit.
- Service providers: vendors that support hosting, security, messaging, analytics, customer support, and content processing under contractual safeguards.
- Legal and safety recipients: authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, rights, safety, and the Service.
- Business transaction recipients: a successor involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality measures.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain publishing records, resolve disputes, meet security and legal obligations, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.
You may disconnect TikTok at any time. After authorization is revoked or expires, Octomuse stops making new TikTok API requests until you reconnect. Revocation does not automatically remove content already published to TikTok.
You may request deletion of your Octomuse account and associated personal information through the in-app Help & Support channel. We may retain limited records where required by law, fraud prevention, security, or legitimate dispute resolution needs.
7. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, encrypted transmission, logging, and restricted handling of authorization tokens. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Octomuse and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
You can manage TikTok access through TikTok’s settings, manage notification permissions in your device settings, and request account or privacy assistance through the in-app Help & Support channel. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by applicable law. If we learn that personal information was collected from a child without valid authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service, law, or our practices. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required.
For privacy questions or requests, contact Octomuse through the Help & Support channel available in the Octomuse app. Please include enough information for us to understand and verify your request.
